Toy Castings

Let's go for a spin around the Evan Yeti figure cast. I tried to design a stance with lots of action in it for playability and Derek Miller of Mental Malfunction Studio captured it perfectly. Evan also has one hand open for gripping weapons classic action figure style. Simply put, Evan is ready to beat up all your other toys even though he's under two inches tall! The figure to be sold will be a darker grey rubber.

Should be getting some pricing info soon on casting them in rubber so I'll be able to set the price of the figure as soon as I get that.

Huge thanks to Derek Miller for all his hard work, attention to detail, communication and of course, all these pictures!

Have a look and please let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Brief Toy Update

Just a little  something to let you know that the Evan Yeti figure is now green lit to be molded and cast. Eventually, he will be a monotone grey rubber figure under two inches tall. Figure has been sculpted by Derek Miller of Mental Malfunction Studio.

Once I know the cost of casting him in rubber I can set a price. Then I will take pre-orders from all who are interested so I can determine how many to make. Please let me know if there are any other colors you would like to see the Evan toy casted in and I'll try to make it happen!

If all goes well maybe we can start on a Coal figure!

Out of curiosity, what other Evan Yeti characters would you like to see a mini figure of?

New Toy Pics!

Evan is shaping up! Derek Miller of Mental Malfunction studio has sent us more pics of Evan oh so close to being finished. He has really brought Evan to life and with the perfect details, it's hard to imagine this figure is under two inches tall!

I put together an animated gif of the pictures Derek sent so you can get the full Evan Yeti toy experience. Check out the pics and let us know what you think!

Evan Yeti Toy!

If you've looked at the Evan Yeti concept art You've seen that I'm always sculpting Evan. It's a chance for me to better understand how he looks from any angle and helps me draw an otherwise completely two dimensional character. It has been my secret wish that eventually one of my sculpts would be professional enough to be moldable for a toy.

I love the Monster in my Pocket  toys that were one inch rubber figures of classic monsters by Matchbox.  With each sculpt I made Evan smaller and smaller hoping to mimic the size and feel of them. Eventually, I found that I have neither the tools or skill to make a figure that small. Not to mention the time it takes.

Luckily, I met Derek Miller of his self run Mental Malfunction Studio at last years Mid Ohio Con. I was blown away by his detailed busts of creatures of Greek Mythology and versatility of styles as he also sculpts his cartoony comical Cheeky Meenkey figures. I knew if anyone could pull off an Evan figure it was him!

Again, with luck Derek agreed to help and was kind enough to send us some work in progress pictures for a sneak peek! The top images are the drawings I gave him for reference and under that are the rough sculpt pics he sent. Be sure to check back to see how Evan is shaping up! And in the meantime check out some of Derek's finished works!

The "other things"

The aforementioned other things that have been updated and added to the site are:

A Fan Art page already filling up with awesomeness!

An improved Links page with banners instead of text links and updated favorite comics (there are some comics I couldn't find banners for. If you own a link that doesn't have an image you can send one to evanyeti@yahoo.com).

Easy access buttons for Blog, Latest Page, and First Page. From my experience in using the navigation buttons I felt there needed to be brighter, different colored, bigger buttons to get to the comic that are easier to find and click on.

Thanks so much to my lovely and talented wife Sarah! She programs the entire site and updates things as fast as I come up with them. Without her Evan Yeti would still be just a drawing in a notebook. A round of applause for the code maestro!

So there's a blog now?

Among other things! Its always been my goal to create an unique web comic site design. I've been apprehensive about having a blog, scared that it would take the viewer out of the interactive world we've tried to create. But after talking with fans and some of my favorite web comic creators, I've discovered that a blog is just kind of nice to have for creator and fans alike. Especially fans that are used to being able to voice their opinions. The readers that I have met have given me invaluable critiques, opinions, self esteem and motivation.

When you think about it, this blog benefits all humankind. Assuming all humankind reads and participates.

So, let's start with you, even if you're not human!
